I can’t remember the first time we saw Kata Kata’s endearing designs. It may have been on their origami paper at Nagasawa in Kobe, Japan. We immediately fell in love with the work of Takeshi Matsunaga and Chie Takai. Their illustrations largely focus on images of natural scenery and animals. Some of them have an old-world European ascetic, and many of their animals designs are reminiscent of classical, Japanese motifs but with their own unique twist. Most intriguing is their tenugui, or traditional hand cloths, which are stenciled and dyed by hand using traditional techniques.
We’re very excited to be the second retailer of Kata Kata products in the United States, and the first and only to currently be carrying their A4 Postcards series. Their illustrations can be found on many more products (such as the aforementioned origami paper), so let us know if you love them, and hopefully we can expand our offerings in the future.
