A tenugui is a traditional cotton hand towel. It's prized as a multi-purpose object, often used as a headband, sometimes as wrapping, and those with more intricate designs are commonly used as decor. Use this one however you want, but the unique Kata Kata design will likely inspire you to put it up on the wall for all to see. These tenugui are stenciled by hand using a traditional process, so no two will be exactly alike, and colors can vary slightly from those pictured.

The whimsical art of Kata Kata comes through the collaboration of Takeshi Matsunaga and Chie Takai. Their work predominately focuses on simple illustrations of animals and scenery, drawing inspiration from everyday life in Japan and European, old-world motifs. They primarily work with textiles, employing the traditional katazome method of dying fabric with stencils. They have also turned their original designs into post cards, large posters, various stationery, ceramics, and even pillows.
