Blackwing Volumes - Vol. 1138
The 1138 is the third pencil in Palomino's limited Volumes series. Like the Palomino Blackwing Pearl, it comes in balanced graphite. The design of the pencil takes inspiration from George Méliès, the visionary, early-20th century film maker and creator of Trip to the Moon, considered to be first example of science fiction film and one of the most influential films in cinematic history. The entirety of the film was condensed into bands of color, in a process known as movie barcoding, and emblazoned on the barrel of the 1138. The pencil is finished with a silver eraser holder, silver imprint, and removable black eraser.

After the initial success of Palomino's graded graphite pencils, Cal Cedar was able to revive the legendary Blackwing pencil. The Blackwing was originally a Eberhart-Faber pencil that had been discontinued and later obtained cult status as pencil aficionados were paying exorbitant amounts at auction for dead stock. The Blackwing had gained a reputation as the pencil of choice for Grammy, Emmy, Pulitzer and Academy Award winners, and now they have become available to a whole new generation of creatives.
