The 10001, to us at Fresh Stock, is one of the most exciting limited edition Blackwings to date. Not only is it made in Japan, but it draws inspiration from famed Japanese puzzle maker Tetsuya Miyamoto. This pencil was made in collaboration with Miyamoto himself, whose KenKen puzzles inspire people everyday, in countries around the world, to use their brains in a creative way. Unlike other Blackwing pencils, this one is pentagonal. The barrel is also finished in "adzuki red" wood stain. It has a gold imprint, including several kanji, a gold ferrule, black eraser, and firm graphite. The pencil is named after the solution to one of Miyamoto's favorite puzzle equations: it is a numerial palindrome in both Arabic numerals and kanji (ichi-man-ichi in Japanese). Not unlike Miyamoto's puzzles, we hope this pencil helps you to think outside the box and aid in creativity

Palomino Original and Palomino Blackwing represent the highest quality brands available from the California Cedar Products Company, the history of which dates back to the mid-19th century. Palomino utilizes genuine California incense cedar which is sent to Japan where the pencils are produced using some of the best Japanese graphite in the industry.

After the initial success of Palomino's graded graphite pencils, Cal Cedar was able to revive the legendary Blackwing pencil. The Blackwing was originally a Eberhart-Faber pencil that had been discontinued and later obtained cult status as pencil aficionados were paying exorbitant amounts at auction for dead stock. The Blackwing had gained a reputation as the pencil of choice for Grammy, Emmy, Pulitzer and Academy Award winners, and now they have become available to a whole new generation of creatives.
