Palomino Blackwing Volumes - Vol. 4
Blackwing looked to the stars for inspiration on Volume 4. Its design is an homage to the red planet and the upcoming Mars rover mission. Motiv Space Systems used Blackwing pencils to conceptualize the rovers's revolutionary robotic arm and zoom-enabled cameras they built for NASA. The pencil is finished in a rust color and is sand texture inspired by the surface of Mars. It's the first Blackwing to feature a bronze ferrule, and it is finished with a cream imprint and eraser.

After the initial success of Palomino's graded graphite pencils, Cal Cedar was able to revive the legendary Blackwing pencil. The Blackwing was originally a Eberhart-Faber pencil that had been discontinued and later obtained cult status as pencil aficionados were paying exorbitant amounts at auction for dead stock. The Blackwing had gained a reputation as the pencil of choice for Grammy, Emmy, Pulitzer and Academy Award winners, and now they have become available to a whole new generation of creatives.
